Over 20 Broadway favorites, including Sara Bareilles, Gavin Creel, Lesli Margherita, and more, took part in the Fifth Annual Broadway Bakes. The week long fundraiser, presented by the New York gourmet cookie company Schmackary’s May 15–19, featured Broadway artists working behind the counter at Schmackary’s each day from 3–7 PM selling freshly baked cookies.

Half the proceeds from cookies sales and 100 percent of the tips generated went to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. In the past three years, Schmackary’s Broadway Bakes events have raised more than $38,000 for the organization. Read more

The Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Falsettos is readying to appear on your TV screen in an upcoming Live from Lincoln Center event. William Finn and James Lapine's musical, which won a pair of Audience Choice Awards on May 19, made us laugh and cry in its Broadway return at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Though the production's limited run starring 2017 Tony nominees Christian Borle, Andrew Rannells, Stephanie J. Block and Brandon Uranowitz may have ended a few months ago, this newly released footage of the upcoming broadcast has brought its moving performances back. Nominees for the 62nd annual Drama Desk Awards came out to meet the press and celebrate at the Drama Desk nominee reception, held May 10 at the Marriott Marquis.

The Drama Desk Awards, which are presented annually, honor outstanding achievement by professional theater artists on Broadway, off-Broadway, and off-off-Broadway. The awards are voted on by theater critics, journalists, editors, and publishers covering theater.
